How it plays

Eight destinations. One cinematic journey.

Around the World turns a pub quiz into a global tour. The big screen shows each destination as if the pub itself just landed there — cinematic visuals, ambient sound, and an AI-generated narrative that ties the whole journey together. The questions are real quiz questions; the production around them turns it into an event.

01
🛬
Touch Down
First destination revealed on the big screen with cinematic visuals and a short AI narrative ("Welcome to Marrakesh. The medina sleeps until..."). The journey begins.
02
Four Rounds Per Stop
Each destination has four short rounds — geography, culture, food, music — each tied to that specific place. AI generates fresh questions per fixture.
03
✈️
Travel Onward
After each destination, a short transition narrative bridges to the next stop. Players see their running totals. The journey continues for 8 stops.
04
🌐
Journey's End
After 8 destinations, the platform tallies. Top teams or players appear on a final cinematic "journey home" screen. AI generates a short verdict on the journey itself.
Why it lands

Why cinematic changes a quiz.

Most pub quizzes are functionally identical — questions, answers, leaderboard. The categories might change but the format doesn't. Around the World is the format we built when we asked: what if a quiz felt like a TV show? The visual production transforms the room's engagement.

🎬
Cinematic destination visuals
Each of the 8 destinations gets its own visual treatment on the big screen — Marrakesh souks, Tokyo neon, the Brazilian Amazon. Built for impact, not just decoration.
📖
AI-generated narrative
A short narrative thread ties each destination into the journey. Generated fresh per game, so no two nights feel identical. The narrator voice is the consistent character across the journey.
🎯
Four-category questions per stop
Geography, culture, food, music — every destination tests all four. Players who travel well, watch documentaries, and listen to world music all have angles to win.
🌐
Fresh destinations every game
AI selects different destinations every fixture. Run it weekly and never repeat. Famous capitals one week, surprising deep-cuts the next.
🎵
Music sourced from each destination
The music round genuinely plays music FROM that destination — Brazilian samba in Rio, K-pop in Seoul, French chanson in Paris. Lands as cultural authenticity, not decoration.
👥
Teams or individual
Format scales — works for solo players on a Tuesday night, works for teams of friends on a Saturday booking. Same journey, different scoring.
Perfect for

Where Around the World does its best work.

🏨
Hotel residence bars
Format suits longer dwell times — diners and residents can engage with a 40-minute cinematic journey.
🍴
Restaurants with bars
Cinematic pacing fits a sit-down crowd better than a buzzer race. Photographs well for social.
🍺
Pubs with destination themes
Venues with international guest demographics — language schools, international student areas, expat-heavy pubs.
Member clubs
Travel-savvy member demographics. The format rewards life experience and broad knowledge.
Questions, answered

Around the World FAQs.

When does Around the World launch?
Currently in active development with a launch window in the next few months. Email the venue team for early access — beta venues get the game free during testing.
Does the platform actually show TV-quality cinematic visuals?
Yes — that's the core of the format. Big-screen visuals per destination, designed to look like a travel documentary intro. The production is the differentiation.
Where do the questions come from?
AI generates fresh questions for each destination, every game. Geography, culture, food, and music — all calibrated to the specific destination. No two games ask the same questions.
Do guests need to download an app?
No. Players scan a QR code or enter a short game code at epicly.live in any phone browser. Joining takes five seconds.
How long is the full journey?
40-50 minutes for 8 destinations including transitions and the final journey-home wrap-up. Designed to feel like a TV show episode, not a quiz session.
Can we run a regional version (Europe only, Asia only)?
Yes — host can set a regional theme. Useful for venues with culturally-specific themed nights or events tied to particular World Cups, festivals, or holiday seasons.
What hardware does the venue need?
A screen the room can see (this game NEEDS a good screen — the cinematic visuals are the star), a connected device, and venue WiFi.
Will the music be properly licensed?
Around the World plays official iTunes 30-second preview clips for its music rounds, the same model as Music Mayhem and Music Bingo. As long as your venue holds standard UK pub licensing (PPL/PRS via TheMusicLicence), public music playback is covered.
